On the morning of 16 February 2016 at the Dragon Steps of the K\u00ednh Thi\u00ean Palace of Th\u0103ng Long Imperial Citadel, the Th\u0103ng Long – H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i Heritage Conservation Centre Centre worked with the Th\u0103ng Long Cultural Heritage Conservation Association to organize an incense offering ceremony to pay tribute to the ancestral kings and talents who were of meritorious service to the nation. This is a traditional cultural activity as part of the Th\u0103ng Long Imperial Citadel Spring Festival in celebration of the Party and the New Year 2016.<\/p>\n
The program features various rituals like procession, incense offering, and worshipping.<\/p>\n
Since 7:00 a.m a procession of more than 400 gathered in front of \u0110oan M\u00f4n Gate before entering the Dragon Court of the K\u00ednh Thi\u00ean Palace to offer incense according to traditional customs.<\/p>\n
The program commenced with a dragon dance performed by artists from Tri\u1ec1u Kh\u00fac Village (T\u00e2n Tri\u1ec1u – Thanh Tr\u00ec), recreating the image of the dragon and fairy descendants in hope of propitious rain and wind, prosperity and abundance, peace and tranquility in an effort to champion the spirit of nobility and the national tradition of gratitude. The dance was followed by the Th\u0103ng Long Drum Performance by artist from Y\u00ean H\u00f2a Village of C\u1ea7u Gi\u1ea5y District, demonstrating the glorious spirit of Th\u0103ng Long – H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i as a city of a thousand year-old history. The dance troupe of the Tri\u1ec1u Kh\u00fac Village also entertained the audience with the cheerful tambourine dance of Tr\u1ed1ng b\u1ed3ng, which is performed annually at the Tri\u1ec1u Kh\u00fac Village Festival. Young men dressed up in women costumes dance gracefully as they pat on the tambourines carried in front of their bellies, their faces beaming with joy and elegance.<\/p>\n
The incense offering ceremony was solemnly carried out by the group of male and female ritualists from Tri\u1ec1u Kh\u00fac Village (T\u00e2n Tri\u1ec1u – Thanh Tr\u00ec) and Y\u00ean H\u00f2a Communal House (C\u1ea7u Gi\u1ea5y District), S\u1edf Th\u01b0\u1ee3ng Village in Y\u00ean S\u1edf – Ho\u00e0ng Mai, V\u00e2n Canh Village in Ho\u00e0i \u0110\u1ee9c, etc. in order to show the reverence and gratitude to the benevolent kings and talented courtiers who contributed to the making of the Th\u0103ng Long culture during the early days of the \u0110\u1ea1i Vi\u1ec7t civilization.<\/p>\n
In the sacred spirit of the first days of the new year, the incense offering ceremony at Th\u0103ng Long Imperial Citadel was a meaningful activity to pay homage to the forefathers of the Vietnamese and champion the traditional values of Th\u0103ng Long – H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i. Together with other features like exhibitions, water puppetry, folk music of ca tr\u00f9, h\u00e1t v\u0103n, x\u1ea9m xoan<\/i> it created a cheerful and joyous atmosphere that appealed to the new year sightseeing public.<\/p>\n
