On the occasion of the New Year 2019, an exhibition space redolent of how T\u1ebft<\/em> was celebrated in the past under the theme \u201cSpring Fragrance\u201d has been staged at the Reception Hall 19C Ho\u00e0ng Di\u1ec7u in the Th\u0103ng Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site.<\/p>\n

In a space of miniature Hanoi Old Quarters, the image of traditional T\u1ebft has reemerged with a lot of colors and originality, involving a number of cultural practices such as the welcoming of dragon, the obtainment of calligraphy characters and the composition of new year pairs of parallels (c\u00e2u \u0111\u1ed1i<\/em>), the distillation of flower-scented liquor presented to the king, and the display of folk paintings, etc.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the exhibition introduces a wide range of images depicting cultural traits associated with the new year, including the tasting and enjoyment of alcoholic drinks and confectionery and the preparation of flower-scented liquor. The taste of T\u1ebft seems more salient and enhanced thanks to the meticulously distilled spirits and the tapioca cookies that were once very popular as a special gift to the sovereigns of yore.<\/p>\n

Th\u0103ng Long culinary tradition was extremely diverse and unique. There was recorded evidence of villages that produced famous specialties for use by the royal court. In his well-known geographical book D\u01b0 \u0111\u1ecba ch\u00ed<\/em>, Nguy\u1ec5n Tr\u00e3i noted that the prefecture of Th\u1ee5y Ch\u01b0\u01a1ng (now Th\u1ee5y Khu\u00ea) of Th\u0103ng Long was widely known for its distillation of lotus wine during the L\u00fd – Tr\u1ea7n dynasties. Beside lotus wine of Th\u1ee5y Ch\u01b0\u01a1ng, there was also chrysanthemum wine of Ng\u00e2u village (now Thanh Tr\u00ec district).<\/p>\n

With vivid pictures, the exhibition takes the viewers back to a colorful collection of memories with twisting lines of flowers made of used newspapers, recalling the plain and simple but no less cozy and joyful T\u1ebft.<\/p>\n

A collection of paintings made of pieces of waste fabric by V\u1ee5n. art is also on display, portraying Kim Ho\u00e0ng pig paintings, \u0110\u00f4ng H\u1ed3 paintings of pigs eating taro leaves. These pieces of artwork were made from V\u1ea1n Ph\u00fac silk fabric by handicapped people, who with their hard work, creativity and dexterity have turned seemingly useless pieces of waste fabric into original artistic products.<\/p>\n

The exhibition has attracted a large turnout of visitors during the T\u1ebft holiday of the Year of the Pig 2019.<\/p>\n
