Flag salutation and the photo march of the historical witnesses and their families will be carried out as part of the \u201cMemory of Autumn\u201d which takes place at the Flag Tower (South Gate yard) of the Th\u0103ng Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site<\/p>\n

The programme aims to arouse emotions and memories of the glorious historical moments of the nation.<\/p>\n

At 15:00 o\u2019clock of 10-10-1954, as the army was marching forward to liberate the capital city, a special ceremony was organized right on the yard of \u0110oan M\u00f4n – Th\u0103ng Long Imperial Citadel (known at that time as the Flag Tower Yard). It was the first flag salutation ceremony on the day Hanoi was liberated.<\/p>\n

The flag salutation ceremony was organized by the municipal politico-military committee and attended by army units who were directly involved in the retaking of the capital city and tens of thousands of fellow countrymen. The red banner with yellow star flew aloft on top of the ancient Flag Tower. The entire city of Hanoi was filled with the joy of liberation, the pride in the strengths of the resistance war, and gratitude towards the Party and beloved Uncle Ho.<\/p>\n

10-10-1954 hence became a brilliant milestone in the history of construction and development of the capital city of the country, marking substantially meaningful turning point as it opened up a new stage of development to the history of Th\u0103ng Long – \u0110\u00f4ng \u0110\u00f4 – H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i.<\/p>\n

Celebrating the 65th<\/sup> anniversary of the liberation of the capital city and paying tribute to the heroes, martyrs and historical witnesses, the Th\u0103ng Long \u2013 H\u00e0 N\u1ed9i Heritage Conservation Centre and the Vietnam Association of Historical Science organize the programme \u201cMemory of Autumn\u201d, the highlight of which is the representation of the historical flag salutation ceremony that took place exactly 65 years ago, on the day the city was liberated. The flag salutation ceremony will feature the following events: photo march of the historical witnesses and their families, art performance titled \u201cheroic songs amidst the historic autumn\u201d. After that, the witnesses and guests will be taking part in a flag salutation ceremony in the yard of \u0110oan M\u00f4n, the selfsame venue where the liberating army conducted the flag salutation ceremony on their victorious return to the capital.<\/p>\n

Besides, the Memory of Autumn Programme also introduces to the public a thematic exhibition titled \u201c \u201d. Through more than 200 photos, documents, objects on display, it retells the story of Hanoi during the resistance war against the French, from the day of the National Resistance War (19 December 1946), followed by nine years of hardship and ordeals, to the liberation of the capital city.<\/p>\n

In the programme, the public also have opportunities to meet with and talk to historical witnesses and historians to share unforgettable memories of the moments when the victorious troops headed directly towards Hanoi.<\/p>\n

Also on this occasion, the Organizing Committee will launch a book on the Liberation Day. With an introduction by Historian D\u01b0\u01a1ng Trung Qu\u1ed1c who was also the editor-in-chief, the book is titled \u201cBringing back glory and national strength<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cMemory of Autumn<\/strong>\u201d Programme takes place on 6 October in the yard of \u0110oan M\u00f4n, Th\u0103ng Long Imperial Citadel, 19C Hoa\u0300ng Di\u00ea\u0323u, Ba \u0110i\u0300nh, Ha\u0300 N\u00f4\u0323i.<\/p>\n
