Photo exhibition “ Discover wonder of world heritage” in Thang Long Imperial Citadel
The photo exhibition “Discover wonder of world heritage” was on display in Thang Long Imperial Citadel from 18/10/2014 to 25/10/2014.
The exhibition is an initiative to link the world’s heritage sites in Vietnam organized by Cultural Heritage Department, UNESCO Office in Hanoi and Club of the World Natural and Cultural Heritage Sites in Vietnam with a view to help visitors have the most general and comprehensive view of 8 world’s heritage sites in Vietnam.
The exhibition was constructed from geometrical units, lively and impressively introducing the photos of 7 famous heritage sites in the world and 8 world’s heritage sites in Vietnam.
Up to now, Vietnam has 8 world cultural and natural heritages, 8 world intangible heritages, 4 documentary heritages and 8 world biosphere reserves. Together with other heritage sites and places nationwide, this is our invaluable properties, the resource for tourism and socio-economic development.
Addressing the ceremony in front of hundreds of secondary school students, Mrs. Katherine Muller Marin, Chief Representative of UNESCO Office in Vietnam, said: “Heritage is your treasure, you have to protect it. All you are preserving today will be properties of your descendants in the future”.
The photo exhibition ““Discover wonder of world heritage” which has been organized in combination with World Heritage Eco learning program attracted 200 secondary school pupils. They have had interesting and useful experience in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, visited heritage site, participated in creative and interactive activities such as making “ Green technology” models. On this occasion, Panasonic Vietnam presented prizes for the winners of the contest “Panasonic – Green Diary″”. These activities have encouraged the children to heighten their awareness on significance and actions to protect heritage and environment.
Within the framework of program, Organizing Board also organized a Workshop to Promote the World Heritage with the participation of the Cultural Heritage Department, UNESCO Office in Hanoi, World Heritage Management Board in Vietnam, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of provinces, Hanoi Ancient Quarters Management Board, Heritage magazine (Vietnam Airlines), QUO, MCMS. The Workshop introduced the methods and processes to establish a promotion strategy for the world heritage, discussed and worked out a specific action plan to promote the world’s heritage sites in Vietnam.
Through the activities including workshop, exhibition and education on heritage, Organizing Board sent a global massage “Protecting the world heritage, protecting our future”.
After exhibition in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, it will be on display in other world heritage sites of Vietnam.
