The Prime Minister has just approved detailed planning of conservation and improvement of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi (scale 1/500).
The planning of conservation and improvement of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi is aimed at proving the truth and unique of Thang Long culture, Dai Viet civilization, architecture- fine art, general layout of construction planning…
The planning area is under Dien Bien ward, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi city with the area of 18.353 ha; included Hanoi Ancient Citadel and archaeological area at 18 Hoang Dieu street.
This specific planning which serves the heritage with continual development during over 13 centuries with significant values of history- culture- architecture- art requires multi-sectoral cooperation. Therefore, this project shall combine two contents: planning of conservation and detailed planning of construction.
The planning also recommends key researches such as evaluation on typical value of the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi in the system of national heritages and similar heritages in the world regarding: Culture, history, archaeology, architecture, vestige, environmental landscape, and urban planning.
Besides, it is also required to evaluate current situation in relation with surrounding space, combine synchronously technical infrastructure, particularly for important areas such as political and administrative center in Ba Dinh district, National Assembly House…
At the same time, proposal on improvement and restoration of heritage works and architectural vestiges which are valuable regarding history, art, culture… has been confirmed by competent authorities.
Ruins and archaeological relics which have been detected require measures of on-the-spot exhibition or movement for inside exhibition. It is recommended to eliminate articles which are invaluable regarding history, culture, architecture…; add some functional spaces to support the site; minimize the new construction.
Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre undertakes the preparation of such planning. The Ministry of Construction takes the lead and cooperates with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to verify the planning.
At the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long- Hanoi, the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi was named a world cultural heritage by UNESCO on 1/8/2010. |
