Exhibition on Northern burghers and farmers’ life in the early 20th century
On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of National Day 2/9, 58th anniversary of Hanoi Liberation’s Day 10/10, in the afternoon 31/8 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the exhibition “Some on Northern burghers and farmers’ life in the early 20th century through woodcut of Henri Oger”was open.
The exhibition was organized by Thang Long – Hanoi Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre in cooperation with École Française d’Extrême – Orient in order to introduce Hanoi folk culture through the selection of drawings included in “Technique of the Annamese people” by Henri Oger with the contents of reflecting material life, details in daily life of Hanoian people, from way of cooking to clothes, jewelry, hairstyle; spiritual life with belief in Buddhism, worship of ancestor, cultural activities and fine art together with production process were the high-light in this exhibition.
Through over 56 drawings, 71 things in nature, 4 videos together with system of articles, the exhibition focused on introducing material and spiritual life and profession techniques by Hanoian burghers and neighboring in the early 20th century.
