The Temple of Literature, one of destinations of the New Year attracts many people
In Hanoi, the artistic performance programs have been held on all large and small stages in 29 districts, towns at the New Year’s Eve to the first days of the new year associated with activities for commemorate 84 years of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The Temple of Literature relic, Thang Long Imperial Citadel Central area, Hanoi Museum … is selected as the destination of the New Year. When visiting Thang Long Imperial Citadel Central area on the first days of the New year, many capital residents and visitors feel that they “stray” in the heritage region with the Tet market sessions, to understand part of how to welcome the new year of ancient Hanoi people in the exhibition “Tet Festival of Hanoi people”, and the image of the Citadel of Ho Dynasty (Thanh Hoa), Cau Hoi An pagoda, My Son temples (Quang Nam), Hue Imperial Palace… through world heritage picture exhibition, and see masterstrokes, meticulosity, talent of artisans when seeing more than 1,200 works of bonsai, driftwood and flowers.

For the residents of Van Sa village, Tan Hong commune (Ba Vi), Tet is an occasion so that villagers prepare truncated-cone-shaped cake, fruit, steamed glutinous rice, chicken, areca, betel, alcohol, eight pole palanquin, practice performance of game of quartet setting in business for the village festival taking place on January the Fourth and Fifth to commemorate merit of heroine Ngu Nuong (Duc Thanh Ba – general of Hai Ba Trung) and Hue Vu Royal Highest Tran Quoc Chan(second son of Tran Hung Dao). Lyrics, crunchy peal, hum, sound in Lo Khe (Dong Anh), Chanh Thon (Phu Xuyen), An Khanh (Hoai Duc) … as signaling the Year of Horse to be peaceful and happy.
The fish market sessions in the early new year in Ngai village, Huong Ngai commune (Thach That) is also very unique. The fishes with black eyes are bred in the boats made of corrugated iron or bamboo baskets, sellers warmly invite visitors to buy. “Tet market in Ngai village has 5 sessions, each session sells an item, but the funniest, most unique market session is the fish market on January the Third. The fish market’s early meeting does not only enable people to have materials for cooking a sort of sour soup to change taste in the New Year, but also is the traditional cultural beauty existing for hundreds of years in Ngai village, welcomed and waited by the people in every New year”
