On the morning of October 7, 2024, at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long heritage site, the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition titled “Hanoi and its Gates” officially took place, marking an important event in the series of activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2024).
The “Hanoi and its Gates” exhibition is organized by the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Home Affairs and the National Archives Center No. 1 (under the State Records and Archives Department). The exhibition aims to showcase the history of the city’s gates, closely linked to the history of Thang Long – Hanoi and the landmark of the Capital’s liberation, through more than 170 valuable documents, images, and archival materials, many of which are being made public for the first time. These images vividly depict the formation and development of Hanoi through various historical periods, from the great resistance against the French colonialists by the people of Vietnam to the present era of renovation and integration. This exhibition not only honors the cultural and historical beauty of Hanoi but also highlights the continuous efforts of the entire nation in building and defending the country. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Hong Son, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, emphasized: “This exhibition is not only to commemorate a significant historical milestone but also an opportunity for every Hanoian and visitor to deeply understand and appreciate the cultural and historical values of the Capital. We are proud of Hanoi – a place where rich cultural heritage converges, a city with a long history and brilliant civilization.”
The “Hanoi and its Gates” exhibition includes three themes:
- Theme 1: The Gates of the Past.
- Theme 2: The Gates of Victory.
- Theme 3: Hanoi’s Gates Today.
The exhibition is creatively designed with various display angles, combining old and contemporary images, allowing viewers to feel the city’s transformation over time. Notably, an interactive art space has been set up where visitors can share their personal memories of Hanoi, contributing to a vibrant picture of love for the city. The “Hanoi and its Gates” exhibition will run from October 7, 2024, to October 30, 2024, promising to be an interesting destination for residents and visitors to the Capital during this significant anniversary. Come and explore, to feel together the endless beauty of Hanoi, where every street and every gate holds stories of history, love, and the aspiration for development on the journey of building a civilized and modern Capital.
