Activity held on occasion of 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s liberation (10/10/1954 – 10/10/2014) in Thang Long Imperial Citadel

As a practical activity on occasion of 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s liberation (10/10/1954 – 10/10/2014), Thang Long-Ha Noi Heritage Conservation Center organized many exhibitions to serve the visitors in Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

In addition to exhibition of bonsai in the heritage site, this occasion has been highlighted by the exhibition of “New findings in archaeology in the Central Sector of Thang Long Imperial Citadel since 2010” and Photo exhibition Thang Long Imperial Citadel – Some main activities (2010 – 2014)”.

The exhibition produced more than 150 archaeological artifacts and items newly found in the Central Sector of Thang Long Imperial Citadel – Hanoi since 2010. These are very important excavated items contributing in raising the deeper awareness in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, especially archaeological values underground.

From 2011- 2013, by excavating the areas including Kinh Thien – Doan Mon and Rose garden, Thang Long-Ha Noi Heritage Conservation Center and Institute of Archaeology discovered unique archaeological vestiges and thousands of items and objects including household pottery and porcelain and architectural material in different dynasties from Dai La, Ly, Tran, Earlier Le dynasty, Le Trung Hung to Nguyen dynasty.

The objects and items selected to be exhibited this time are very typical and special, which first time have been discovered in Thang Long Imperial Citadel, demonstrating the power of Royal family in particular and Dai Viet in general through the dynasties of Dai Viet’s history.

Newly founded wooden seal “Sắc mệnh chi bảo”, carved with 3 dragons curled up, dragon’s head was made of terra-cotta, proved the centrality and emperorship of the relics in the heritage site. These typical items are all of national precious objects of Thang Long.
