Meeting of the Council of Examiners of architectural design contest for preservation and promotion of the archaeological relic values at 18 Hoang Dieu.
From 21 April to 26 April 2014 at the Center for Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Preservation, Council of Examiners of architectural design contest for preservation and promotion of the archaeological relic values at 18 Hoang Dieu under Central Sector of Thang Long Imperial Citadel held a meetings of the Council of Examiners to mark and select the best designs.
The contest was launched on 12 February 2014, attracting so many consultants at home and overseas. At the end of 20 April 2014 the Organizing Board received 24 projects from 23 firms including 5 joint projects between local and international consultants, 2 firms from France and 1 firm from Singapore.
The contest is one of the content realized by Hanoi city in compliance with Decision No. 696/QĐ- TTg dated 8 June 2012 issued by the Prime Minister approving the Master plan of the Central Sector of Thang Long Imperial Citadel at 18 Hoang Dieu.
The Plan is made to preserve the Relic site at 18 Hoang Dieu and the Ancient imperial citadel to become a Historical and Cultural Park, promoting its outstanding values globally, demonstrating the significance of the world’s heritage which has been existed and developed continuously for more than 1,300 years; for a long-term conservation of the architectural vestiges, artifacts, archaeological sites which have been unearthed, honoring intangible and tangible cultural values for future generations. Simultaneously community culture space will be created harmonious with the surrounding architecture and infrastructure of the Ba Dinh political center.
This is a Plan with specific charasteristics, significant which was recognized by UNESCO as the world’s cultural heritage, located in Ba Dinh political center where National Assembly House being built, a continuation of power center through thousands of years.
The Council of Examiners consists of the leaders of Ministry of Construction, Hanoi People’s Committee, Department of Architectural Planning, Department of Culture – Sports – Tourism, Associations, leading experts in heritage preservation, urban planning, archaeology at home and overseas. The examination, marking and selection of the designs have been carried out in compliance with all regulations. After two rounds of consideration and assessment, 8 designs have been selected to take part in the third round. In the morning of 26 April, the top six designs have been selected by the Council to be presented awards.
It is expected that the best designs will be exhibited on occation of Independence Day ( 30/4) và ngày quốc tế lao động (1/5) tại khu di sản Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
