Cultural activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Capital’s liberation

A wide range of cultural activities will be held from May 20 to October 10 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Capital’s liberation day (10/10/1954 – 10/10/2014), according to an announcement made by Hanoi City People’s Committee.

The largest event on this occasion will be the 60th anniversary ceremony of the Capital’s liberation. The event will honour outstanding organizations and individuals in realizing the patriotic emulation movement and the “Good People and Good Deeds” movement as well as “Hanoi’s outstanding citizens of 2014”. The ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Friendship Cultural Palce in the morning of October 10, 2014.

In addition, exhibitions, conferences and various public cultural, art and sport activities will be held.

The scientific conference titled “Capital’s liberation- Continuity and development of cultural value and military art of 1000 years of Thang Long- Hanoi” is scheduled to be held.

On the occasion, Hanoi will organize cultural activities such as exhibitions on the Capital’s development during the past 60 years, Hanoi Fine Arts exhibition 2014; a “Book Street” program; Display and introduction of places in relation to historical and revolutionary events in the 1946 – 1954 period; photographic special subject of 60th year of the Capital’s liberation.

Particularly, the 2014 Festival for Traditional Handicraft Villages in combination with the Hanoi Cuisine Festival will be also held.

Notable cultural, art and sport activities such as art performance program titled “Hanoi- Belief and Hope”, the 2014 Festival for Hanoi Traditional Stage, Festival for Hanoi Dragon Dancing, the 2014 Hanoi Moi newspaper contest of marathon for the peace; Open Hanoi contest of bicycling in Hoan Kiem lake with the participation of some localities will be organized.

Besides, two attractive events will be organized, namely the 2014 Hanoi Fashion Week and “Peaceful Cultural Festival” at Hoa Binh park in combination with the 15th anniversary of Hanoi’s UNESCO recognition as a City for Peace.

The Hanoian will gaze with veneration at the firework show to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation Date from 9PM on October 10, 2014.

The art performance shows will also be taken place with the cooperation of city, central and local art delegations.
