Toulouse Cultural Week opens in Hanoi

The Toulouse Cultural Week was held from October 4 in the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, Hanoi. The event is an opportunity of traditional cultural exchange between Hanoi and Toulouse.

This event was to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam- France diplomatic ties (1973-2013) and the close ties between the two countries’ cities that have existed since 1996, strengthening more close and sustainable development of two cities’ relationship.

The Toulouse Cultural Week was one of significant activities within the framework of Hanoi- Toulouse cooperative agreement, organized alternately in order to exchange good cultural traditions and learn mutual experiences.

Addressing at the Opening Ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Hanoi City People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc emphasized that the friendship and cooperative relationship between Vietnam- France has existed for a long time and developed in many areas such as diplomatic, economy, culture, science and technique… Particularly, the official visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister to France in September heightened Vietnam- France relationship to “strategic partnership”, opening a new cooperative and comprehensive cooperation in many areas.

Through Toulouse Cultural Week, Hanoians had opportunity to enjoy special cultural performances with many types of unique arts shown by famous artists from Toulouse City.

The Toulouse Cultural Week in Hanoi included music performances, movies, concerts and exhibitions such as classical music performance by Les Hanches Hantées orchestra whose members studied at Toulouse Conservatory and are famous in Europe; flamenco performance by Sandoval orchestra including three guitarists in October 7 at Hanoi College of Arts.

Jazz orchestra named La face cachée des sous bois performed at stage No. 16 Le Thai To at 20:00 PM, October 8. This is one of the favorite orchestra in the Southern France.

Programs of movies and concerts took place at 14:00PM on Saturday, October 5 at Hanoi College of Art. Movies for children included cartoon Les As de la jungle – a special French cartoon made by David Alaux and Eric Tosti, shown at Kim Dong cinema at 8:30 AM, October 5-6.
