Training program of vestige guide
In the framework of cooperation between Hanoi City and Ilede- France (Republic of France), from 26/11 to 29/11/2012, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre in combination with IMV (Cooperation Centre for Urban Development Hanoi- Ile de-France) organized training program of vestige guides.
The training program attracted 25 trainees who are guides at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Duong Lam ancient village and Co Loa Citadel.
In the program, Ms. Catherine Arteau, French expert, instructed profession and skill of explanation and introduction of vestiges, included specific contents as follows:
Tourism economy and potential in the Southeast Asia and Vietnam. Challenges and prospects of tourism development in Vietnam.
Heritage- Basic factor for tourism development. The truth of heritage in tourism development. Relationship between tourism and world heritage.
Skill of receiving tourists. Forms of guidance and explanation.
Basic requirements for a guide.
Methods of guidance and explanation in cultural tourism.
10 key principles in guidance and explanation.
Relationship with tourists and between tourists and local people.
In the program, trainees also regularly attended practical exercises at Thang Long Imperial Citadel; at the same time, surveying experiences of management, preservation and improvement of heritages from some specific examples on famous heritages in France and in the world.
Between 2008 and 2009, with the support from Tourism Committee of Ile de France, French experts cooperated and supported the Thang Long – Hanoi Cultural Heritage Conservation Centre regarding preparation of documents to apply for naming the Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi as a world cultural heritage, particularly Plan on tourism management at the site.
