Imperial Citadel of Thang Long welcomes large numbers of spring visitors during Lunar New Year 2026
In the joyful atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long has become a prominent cultural and historical destination, attracting a large number of residents and both domestic and international visitors who come to explore, pay tribute, and experience traditional spring activities.

According to the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Centre, during the first days of Spring 2026, the number of visitors to the site increased significantly compared to the same period last year. The Citadel was beautifully decorated with festive flags and flowers, harmoniously blending the historic landscape with vibrant cultural activities. This unique setting has further enhanced the site’s appeal, contributing to the promotion of the thousand-year-old heritage values of the ancient capital of Thang Long.

To meet the growing demand for spring visits and historical exploration, the Management Board organized a wide range of activities, including:
- Re-enactment of traditional Lunar New Year settings within the ancient royal palace
- Thematic exhibitions on royal court rituals and traditional New Year customs
- Performances of traditional arts, including water puppetry and folk performances
- Spring flower displays and decorative spaces for sightseeing and photography
All activities were conducted in a solemn and respectful manner, ensuring safety and preserving the dignity of the heritage site, while enabling the public to gain deeper access to its Outstanding Universal Value.

The Management Board proactively implemented visitor management plans, strengthened guiding and security forces, and provided information support to ensure absolute safety for all guests. Environmental hygiene and landscape maintenance were carefully maintained, contributing to a civilized, friendly, and professional image of the Imperial Citadel.
In addition, the continued application of technology in visitor guidance and site interpretation has provided more convenient and engaging experiences for visitors.
