General plan of the Central Sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi be approved
The Prime Minister has just approved general plan of the Central Sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi at 18 Hoang Dieu Street- Hanoi with the area of 4.538 ha.
18 Hoang Dieu archaeological monuments and Ancient citadel under the Central Sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi have been recognized as the world cultural heritages. The sites are located in Ba Dinh political and administrative centre besides the new Parliament House which is under construction, therefore, the plan is very important.
The plan is aimed at preserving and making 18 Hoang Dieu archaeological monuments and the Ancient citadel to become Cultural and History Park in order to improve global typical values of the site, and expressing the meaning of the world heritage of which its existence and continual development have been from over last 1,300 years; simultaneously, preserving architectural vestiges, things in nature and detected archaeological relics for a long time; and naming respectfully tangible and intangible cultural values for the next generations…
As planned, total land lot area is 45,380 m2, of which construction area of archaeological showroom is 13,674 m2; area of imitated things and glass cellar is 3,438 m2; area of green trees for archaeological preservation is 21,195 m2; area of continually researched archaeology is 6,803 m2; technical and auxiliary area is 859.3 m2; area of yard and traffic road is 6,214 m2.
As planned, the maximum height of new construction work in 18 Hoang Dieu archaeological monuments is 5m; the construction of floating works is restricted. The showroom has suitable height equivalent to one floor to ensure ventilation and form open space and vision to surrounding roads.
Regarding transport, 4 entrances shall be arranged from Hoang Dieu street, Doc Lap street, Hoang Van Thu street and Bac Son street. The main gate is defined at the Northern land lot, Hoang Dieu- Bac Son corner.
In the inside site, 2 main roads and connection roads to visiting sites shall be designed.
The Central Sector of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi has spent over 10 centuries from Dai La Citadel pre-Thang Long, particularly from King Ly Thai To (10th century) to Ho Chi Minh age.
The Central Sector of Imperial Citadel of Thang Long- Hanoi at 18 Hoang Dieu street has been excavated from December 2002 and expanded in the mid 2003 with the initial target of excavation and land clearance to build the National Convention Center and Parliament House. During last years, archaeologists have organized many significant excavations and acquired valuable vestiges. |
