Hanoi to improve Van Quan and Mo Lao pagodas
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has approved the restoration and improvement of vestiges namely Van Quan and Mo Lao pagodas in Ha Dong district, Hanoi City.
The restoration and improvement project will include restoration of Three Jewels in Van Quan pagoda and newly construction of Buddhist nun house in Mo Lao pagoda. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism required Hanoi City to pay special attention to the restoration of Three Jewels in Van Quan pagoda. The elevation windows should be shaped in Zen circle; transversal beam should not be replaced completely and supporting of roof truss should be remained.
Van Quan pagoda
Do Pagoda (or Linh Quang pagoda, or Phap Trang Phat An temple or commonly called as Van Quan pagod) is located at Van Quan village, Ha Dong district. The pagoda was built by Superior Buddhist monk Thich Tac Nhan under Tendai from 1953 to 1955.
Office of Ha Tay (former) Buddhism Managing Committee was placed at the pagoda from 1958. Do pagoda was built according to modern architecture, included 2 floors. The Three Jewels are placed in the second floor. Linh Son Budha was placed in the central chamber from the construction.
Mo Lao pagoda
Mo Lao Pagoda in Ha Dong has pen name of Linh Quang Buddhist Temple. This is the second office of Hanoi Buddhism Association and campus II of Hanoi Buddhist College. The pagoda was recognized as the cultural and historical vestige in 1996.
